AI + HI = Transformation
Artificial intelligence is not going to change the world. It will be artificial intelligence combined with human intelligence that will enable change.
AI + HI = Transformation
Artificial Intelligence (AI) plus Human Intelligence (HI) will cause a transformation. The Harvard Business Review article Digital Transformation Is About Talent, Not Technology, by Becky Frankiewicz and Tomas Chamorro-Premuzic, has it right. The summary of the article says:
Contrary to popular belief, digital transformation is less about technology, and more about people. You can pretty much buy any technology, but your ability to adapt to an even more digital future depends on developing the next generation of skills, closing the gap between talent supply and demand, and future-proofing your own and others’ potential. It’s really quite simple: the most brilliant innovation is irrelevant if we are not skilled enough to use it; and even the most impressive human minds will become less useful if they don’t team up with technology. The main implication is that when leaders think about investing in technology, they should first think about investing in the people who can make that technology useful.
You need to get the right people on the bus, then you need to get them seated in the right seats, and only then should you start driving that bus in one direction or another. The steps need to be in that order.
Today, most accountants currently have their heads burred in the sand. Not a problem; having a strategy of being reactive is fine. Being proactive is a different strategy. By default, if you are not doing something...you get a be reactive strategy.
As ice hockey star Wayne Gretzky famously said, “I skate to where the puck is going, not where it has been.” Do you know where the puck is going? What I say is that the best way to predict the future is to create that future. One needs to figure out where that puck is headed.
ChatGPT is all the rage these days. Well, here is how fast things are moving. Myaskai.com provides a service where in a few minutes you can make available your own customized ChatGPT. I took the time to create my own ChatGPT, Charlie's ASK. Why? To help me figure out which direction the puck is moving. What are you doing to figure out where that puck is going???
Experimentation with AI by an amateur that doesn't have skills or experience in an area of knowledge, particularly of the subtleties and nuances of that area of knowledge, will be unfulfilling. Skilled professionals need to be experimenting with AI in some area of knowledge like financial accounting, reporting, auditing, or analysis. Experimentation by those with experience and skill will effect a transformation.
