Changing Systems is, and Should Be, Hard

Changing from an existing systems to some sort of new system is hard.  Sometimes this change can be very hard. Niccolo Machiavelli said it well in The Prince.

And you know, changing an existing system should be hard. Changing some systems should be incredibly hard. This forces those pushing for a new system to prove what they are proposing.

But while changing an existing system to a new system can be challenging, risky, there can be tremendous opposition, and the outcome is never certain; it is not impossible to change systems. While change can be challenging, it can also be the right thing to do.

Blaise Pascal (1623–62) pointed out the duality of humans; capable of great intellectual and moral nobility, but also subject to weakness, error, and fragility. This duality is a manifestation of the inherent complexity of human nature.
