Mind Map to Think About Modern Accountancy

While the universal technology of accountability is based on medieval traditions, like everything else it is subject to change.

Modern accountancy is inevitable. In my view it is also imminent. I have put together a mind map to help me think about and explain what I mean by "modern accountancy".  By "accountancy" I mean accounting, reporting, auditing, and analysis; external compliance reporting, tax accounting, internal management and cost accounting.  All of it.

Here is that mind map. (Start at the blue hexagon.)

Maybe you would agree that accountancy will undergo change.  Keep in mind that real space and cyberspace (i.e. the internet) do not operate in the same manner.  The territory has changed.  Because the territory has changed, a new map of the world is necessary.  Using old mental maps to understand the future will not work effectively.

Imagine it.  Freedom from drudgery. Freedom from the toil of tedious, repetitive, mundane, monotonous tasks. Freedom from  "copy/paste".  Freedom from rekeying information.

Microsoft CEO: "AI Agents will Replace All Software"

We have entered the "agentic era"; the era of the agent or intelligent software agent . Others refer to this as the "algorithmic economy".  Maybe think many very intelligent  microservices  exchanging information with each other and can work globally. In an interview with BG2, Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella predicts that (paraphrasing) SaaS (software as a service) is dead and that AI agents will replace all software. Professional Study Group for Digital Financial Reporting

Digital financial reporting is a thing.  The IFRS Foundation explains digital financial reporting  in an article, Digital Financial Reporting - Facilitating digital comparability and analysis of financial reports . OFFICIAL VERSION : The IFRS Foundation publishes an XBRL taxonomy for IFRS for SMEs (2024).  You can find official information about that XBRL taxonomy here on this web page, IFRS for SMEs as Published by IFRS Foundation (2024) .
