Edges of Knowledge is an excellent and comprehensive article that helps one put a lot of different things into perspective. The article has a lot of really nice graphics like the one below:


The article has a lot of "stuff".  I don't even know how to describe the article.  If you are trying to figure out how the information age might work, the article is worth wading through.

It is encouraging that there are people thinking about all this deeply.  Another similar resource is ADEPT LION.

Evaluating the Quality of XBRL-based Financial Reports

From the time public companies started submitting XBRL-based financial reports to the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission, I have been looking at those reports, trying to understand the XBRL-based reports, and trying to figure out how to get them right.  That information was used to figure out how to create software applications that help professional accountants get these reports right.
